Being a part of the Maine Jr Mariners has been a dynamic experience. Ice hockey is demanding and challenging. This program rises to that challenge. I have been able to continue playing the sport I love at a higher level while being presented with opportunities that may have not been possible otherwise. Everyone is held to a high standard and held accountable for everything we do. I have formed great friendships while learning self-discipline, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, while overcoming challenges and frustrations. Head Coach Lebowitz with the support of assistant coaches has given me instruction on how to become the best goalie, teammate and human possible and supports me each step of the way.

Academic
The high school years are a pivotal point in a student-athlete’s life. The Maine Jr. Mariners Academy offers a prep-school-based model through Thornton Academy, creating an elite environment where hockey development and academic excellence are pursued together. Whether preparing for future NCAA opportunities in the classroom or on the ice, it is essential that the focus remains on individual growth during these formative years within a structured, in-person academic setting.
Our Academy model provides a true prep school environment that removes the time constraints, logistical challenges, and daily frustration often associated with balancing high-level hockey training and educational advancement. By partnering with Thornton Academy, we offer consistent structure, accountability, and support, allowing us to encourage and guide students as they develop mentally, physically, athletically, and academically.

Teams
The Maine Jr. Mariners U8, U10, U12, U14, U15, U16, U18 and a U19 Girls team will play in the Beast League, NGHL, Elite Prospect Cup and United Tier 1 Hockey League. All three leagues are premier midget leagues in North America and play the best competition. The 18U, 16U, 15U AAA(National Bound) team is owned and operated by the Maine Jr. Mariners LLC. We will be working in tandem with multiple NAHL and EHL teams to offer players the chance for in-season promotions that very few teams can complete with. We are also a direct affiliate of the Northern Maine Pioneers of the NCDC and have players constantly practicing and playing games as affiliate players

Student Life
As a student-athlete at Maine Jr. Mariner Academy, players attend Thornton Academy in person, one of the most prestigious private schools in New England, known for its academic rigor, elite faculty, and strong college placement history. Student-athletes reside in St. Joseph’s College dorm facilities and train and practice up to five times per week while maintaining a structured, college-preparatory academic schedule. Thornton Academy’s in-person model provides daily accountability, direct teacher engagement, and a true prep-school experience. By integrating elite academics, housing, and training within one program—and supported by experienced NCAA hockey personnel—our model eliminates common challenges such as NCAA eligibility concerns, long commutes, late-night study demands, alternative schooling complications, or living away from a campus-based support system.

Rink
The Biddeford Ice Arena and University Southern Maine are the home to the Maine Jr. Mariners. The rink is also home to two local High School teams Thorton Academy & Biddeford High School. There is a lounge with a restaurant for your student athlete before and after practice.
University of Southern Maine is home to the Huskies Mens and Womens NCAA Hockey Taeams.
